Too much fun at the prints and drawings fair opening last night, and I am thrilled to be sending this Picasso ink drawing from Jill Newhouse home with my client.
Next week at auction: feeling very invested in someone pairing this 1952 Wifredo Lam ink on paper (at Doyle in NY) with Philippe Starck’s 1983 Chaise pliante (at Bonhams in Paris).
I have loved putting buying work for what I call The Blue Collection. We brought down this wall-mounted Lichtenstein at Christie’s a few years ago to take advantage of a set back hallway space. Always nice to visit old friends!
Artist Spolight: I’m doing research today on a few of the lesser known names that caught my eye when I visited The Barnes in Philadelphia last week. First up: an Italian artist known as Afro. I noticed two late 1940s portraits in Albert Barnes&
Philadelphia! @sarcherize
At auction next week: popped this (what must be a very early) Louise Nevelson into a new frame to show just how good it could look. Still looking for a bidder on this one! I think we can snag it for under $20K.
